CALIFORNIA BAY AREA HOBART DAVIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Bay Area Huskers, covering the California coast from King City to Crescent City, has established the California Bay Area Hobart Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) to benefit graduates of California high schools who are attending UNL.
The scholarship is named for the late Hobart S. Davis, Sr., Class of 1925. Mr. Davis played football, basketball and lettered in track. Hobart was the lead tenor of the University Quartet that introduced a potential fight song, (with megaphones) in 1923 during halftime of an NU/OU football game (Nebraska won 24-0). This potential fight song was “There is No Place Like Nebraska” which is still going strong today.
Scholarships will be awarded annually to qualified incoming freshmen or returning/transferring upperclassmen by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at UNL. Scholarship criteria are highlighted here.
Your local Alumni Chapter is happy to announce that the Hobart Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund is now permanently endowed. At this time the UNL Foundation is matching all scholarships. Your Chapter is seeking additional contributions so that the award may be increased, or that additional scholarships might be offered in the future. All gifts made to the University of Nebraska Foundation to benefit this scholarship fund are tax deductible. If you have any questions please contact our Chapter VP for Scholarship, Marthe
Theodore via email at:
marthecar@hotmail.com.
If you are interested in donating stock or estate assets, please contact the Foundation at (402) 472-2151 or go to their website, for guidance on “Ways of Giving”. They will be happy to explain the options available to you.
To make a gift, click here for a printer friendly form, and return it to the Foundation with your contribution. The Bay Area Nebraska Alumni Chapter thanks you for your support of our Scholarship Fund and for your continuing support for the University of Nebraska.
